My favourite recipe is paneer tikka
Paneer tikka is a popular Indian dish made with cubes of paneer (Indian cottage cheese) marinated in a mixture of yogurt and spices and then grilled or baked until charred and aromatic. It is typically served as a starter or appetizer.
Here is a simple recipe for paneer tikka:
Ingredients:
- 250g paneer, cut into cubes
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 2 tablespoons gram flour (besan)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon oil (for brushing)
For garnish:
- Chopped coriander leaves
- Lemon wedges
- Onion rings
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, add yogurt, gram flour, lemon juice, ginger paste, garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well to form a smooth paste.
- Add paneer cubes to the marinade and coat them evenly. Allow the paneer to marinate for at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate overnight for best results.
- Preheat the grill or oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Thread the marinated paneer cubes onto skewers.
- Place the skewers on the grill or greased baking tray. Brush with oil.
- Grill or bake for about 8-10 minutes, turning the skewers once halfway through, until the paneer has a golden-brown char on all sides.
- Remove from heat and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot with lemon wedges and onion rings.
Enjoy your homemade paneer tikka as a delicious appetizer or as a side dish with naan bread or rice.
